Jay's first complaint to ADEQ about slag dust in his 2000 sq ft mechanic garage and office. Robert Hall, the owner of Aspen Ministorage, joined him in this complaint about dust in his facility.
Jay stated that residents in the apartments across the street at Verde Plaza were also complaining of intrusive dust and wanted to sue the City. Jay added photos of daily particulate accumulating at his place.
Nothing had been dust to assist Jay or the adjacent resident families WITH children playing in the slag dust! Jay had developed sores on his arms, was losing balance and falling down.

Jay describes to City Manager Ron Corbin that ADEQ says this is the responsibility of Cottonwood City council as described in a document ADEQ gave him.
More than 6 years of internal email correspondence between dozens of city officials and council members but NO ACTION IS TAKEN. Requests by residents for help and public discourse are ignored all of this time. To date, the City of Cottonwood is still denying they have ever received complaints. ADEQ responded at times but took no action. Some residents were damaged irreparably and some DIED. The city is still denying any accountability for the slag waste contamination.
She notified ADEQ and said that the walls of her house developed large cracks from blasting at the MRI refining operation. Nothing was done.
Said there was black dust in her house from the tailings pile and it was making her sick. My animals are being poisoned. Lots of internal memos circulated to many departments at the city & MRI responded that slag dust is not toxic. Her dogs passed away from cancerous tumors.
In 2022, Dorothy abandoned living in her own house. She said it was damaged from MRI blasting. It has been sitting empty ever since and she rents a room in another part of Cottonwood. She is incapacitated, poor and is 83 years old. No one has ever taken accountability for her losses.
